Welcome to the IENE projects!

This multilingual website addresses nurses and healthcare professionals working with patients from different cultures and languages and aims to improve the quality of their vocational education and training in Europe.

During the IENE 1 to IENE 11 projects, 27 partners from 14 European countries developed a Model for Intercultural education of nurses and healthcare professionals based on the Papadopoulos, Tilki and Taylor Model (PTT/IENE MODEL)

The Papadopoulos/IENE4 tool for measuring Culturally Competent Compassion

Thank you for agreeing to complete this tool. The data gathered from this will be used to assess the level of your cultural and compassionate competence.

In the tables of statements, please tick the response that seems most appropriate. Do not spend much time thinking about your answer. Please provide a response for every statement. Statements cannot be left unticked.

You will complete the tool on-line. When you finish please click the submit button and wait for a few moments. The computer will give you the result of this self-assessment exercise. You will be given one of these levels , the calculation of which is based on your responses:

  • Culturally and compassionately Incompetent
  • Culturally and compassionately Aware
  • Culturally and compassionately Safe
  • Culturally and compassionately Competent

The result is not definitive but a very good indicator of your level of competence. Please reflect on the result and if needed consider undertaking some professional development.

Please note that the tool is completely confidential. By completing the tool you are giving your consent to the developers to use the data completely anonymously in articles or other academic outputs. Any reporting of data will be done in such a way that none can be assigned to a particular individual.
