Welcome to the IENE projects!

This multilingual website addresses nurses and healthcare professionals working with patients from different cultures and languages and aims to improve the quality of their vocational education and training in Europe.

During the IENE 1 to IENE 11 projects, 27 partners from 14 European countries developed a Model for Intercultural education of nurses and healthcare professionals based on the Papadopoulos, Tilki and Taylor Model (PTT/IENE MODEL)

Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC)

We developed four Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC) , innovative pedagogical approaches which allow large-scale interactive participation, co-learning through co-creation and open access via the web.

Each MOOC is based on the specific project’s curriculum (for example IENE 5, 7, 9, 10) and suitable training objectives and outputs, adapted to different target groups.

IENE 5 MOOC

The "Training Health Care Teams" MOOC aims to increase the knowledge and skills of members of healthcare teams, in three major areas: Intercultural communication, Working in multicultural and multidisciplinary healthcare teams and patient safety.

IENE 7 MOOC

The "Cultural Competence Training for Caregivers of Older People"aims to acquire relevant knowledge , intercultural and social skills , foreign languages and digital skills and to empower you with the capacity to establish a positive communication , friendly environment , positive interaction and relationships with older people.

IENE 9 MOOC

The IENE 9 MOOC aimed to support participants in developing an awareness of LGBT+ needs in health and social care across Europe and the world.

The MOOC helped participants to acquire relevant knowledge, professional skills and key competences, including intercultural, social and digital skills. It also aims to improve participants’ confidence in establishing positive communication, friendly environments, positive interactions and relationships with LGBT+ individuals

IENE 10 MOOC

The IENE 10 MOOC Transcultural Robotics Nursing (TRN) combined intercultural education and Robotics in Health and Social Care

The course ran from 30th of September to 4th of November 2022.

A number 445 participants enrolled the course, from which 240 achieved the minimum pass rate and 182 submitted the final assessment , receiving certificates of completion/attendance.

The participants improved their knowledge and skills about socially assistive artificially intelligent robots in health and social care (HSC) environments.
